Facebook

Once I did, I decided to see who John’s friends were and was shocked! Among the most well known is Deepak Chopra, Mark Victor Hansen, Bill Maher, Robert Kiyosaki, Jack Canfield, Willie Crawford, John Childers and a list of who’s who that didn’t stop. So I spent an hour, until they told me to stop, just asking if they’d “add” me as a friend.
The next morning when I checked, I had 92 friends. I hadn’t been that excited since the very first email I received in 1995. I spent about an hour a day asking friends of each one of them and all my new friends’ friends to add me to their list of friends. About a month later I realized there was a tab that I hadn’t noticed “Home”. When I clicked on it, there was more than 100 people who had requested I add them as a friend! Wow, this was great.
I was due to release my sixth book in June 2008 so I posted a request for help from anyone who had ideas on how to sell and promote the book and was impressed by all the helpful suggestions. I ended up with nine radio interviews in the U.S., one in Spain, one in England and one in Canada. You can imagine how exciting that was.
Then I discovered that every Internet marketing guru is on Facebook too. I began to create relationships with them and generate some Joint Venture relationships. We’ve done interviews together, teleseminars, and I’ve even managed some speaking engagements from my Facebook contacts. I realized that Facebook was the biggest goldmine of contacts and talent I had ever seen.
By December I had racked up 4,400 friends and as I had done many times, I promoted a free teleseminar I was doing the next week. The second notice I sent a message came up “You are spamming and your profile has been disabled.”
I was devastated and stopped using Facebook for a month. But I thought that as good as it was, I needed to go back and recreate my profile. So January 5th I began anew and eight months later I had 4,500 friends again including most of the original group. We max out at 5,000 and I’m told that “they” get angry if I decided to have multiple profiles.
So one of the folks that interviewed me, Deremiah, started a fan club for me. That’s how to get around the limitation since there is no limit to the number of fans you can have.
